Have you guys heard about Ruby Quest?

It's basically a horror fanfiction/questgame using some Animal Crossing characters. Starring Ruby, obviously. I know some of you would be interested in this, so I thought it needed a plug in acww_a.

I personally haven't read it, but it's gotten popular enough that there's also now a Nan Quest (though it's not as popular as Ruby).

Hey y'all! I haven't been here in forever! I did stop playing for quite a bit, but I'm semi-back. I started playing again today. I'm in august. I lost all hybrids except for one orange pansy and one gold rose. And you know what? I'm ok with losing them because I caught the banded dragonfly!! That completes my bug collection. I turned it in to Blathers but he didn't say anything about the museum being complete. Is he supposed to? Ok, so that's a little of what's been going on in my town. I'm anxiously awaiting the 3D version now. And if anyone wants to take me off their roster I'm cool with that.

So forged paintings.

My art gallery in the museum is completed.
When I buy a painting from Redd and take it to Blathers, he just says one has already been donated, and he has to turn it away, neverminding which is the fake. So I assumed it was a forged painting -- he didn't say so outright, but since he mentioned forged paintings I just assumed it was inauthentic.
Then I went to sell it to Nook, along with a few flowers, he gave me over 1000 bells.
So... it was authentic? Because he buys fakes for 10.

Basically, is the only way to find out if a painting's authentic to try and sell it to Nook? (And then change your mind if it ends up being more than 10 bells) Or am I crazy and if it was real, Blathers doesn't comment on forgeries at all?
Because I think I've done it before and only gotten 10 bells at Nook's, along with the same dialogs. Also after Blathers turned away a fake, it didn't change to "forged painting" in my inventory, still being called "lovely painting" or whatever. Shouldn't it have changed if it was a fake?...

I've been buying some from Redd to set aside as gifts but obv only want to give people authentic ones.

So an actual trailer has been released for the 3DS version of Animal Crossing (no release date yet, natch).

My initial reaction is over here at my ACWW blog but real quick:
- I think it looks really good and not just a glorified port of previous versions (like City Folk was).
- Lots of new things that look like improvements (including new gameplay with the becoming mayor aspect and all) and not just for novelty.
- I think the taller bodies look fine -- not better or worse, just different.

My husband and I will probably eventually get a 3DS but it's going to be a while. We usually wait for the second wave on consoles, anyway. The only reason I own a DS is to play ACWW (he's more of the video game player than I am -- if it were just me I don't know if I'd be able to justify getting a 3DS for just one game). Like I use it for other games occasionally too, but ACWW's the only one that I hog it over.

I'm trying to be optimistic about this version. Nintendo got a lot of flack from reviews about City Folk (Wild World resells for more, booyah ;) so hopefully they've put more love into this version.

Opening B-town for the first time in months! I am in the middle of playing catch-up, so there's still snow on the ground! Come make a snowman in May!

I won't be able to add more people that aren't already on the roster, sorry. :\  I'm going to try and leave the gates open all night *crosses fingers* and I'll be up late as well!

I used to be somewhat active in this community a while ago ago, but it's been well over three years (wow!) since I last posted and really played AC:WW. I was bored yesterday and wiped my game cart and started all over again from the beginning.

So here I am looking for some friends to help me get back on my feet. Right now I need fruit (native: apples) and some tools (shovel, watering can, axe, slingshot). If anyone would like to help out, add me! I'd love to come visit and go fruit picking and shopping. :)

In general I will be able to play weeknights after 5pm CDT and nearly all day on weekends. I'm also trying to get access at work so I can hop on at lunch (11a-12p CDT).

i want to start playing again, but i have a problem. we have a new router, and i have a new laptop. on my laptop, i'm running windows 7. i can either set the router so i can connect to the internet on my laptop, or i can set it so i can connect to wi-fi on acww. i've searched high and low and have concluded that there is no possible way i can be on my laptop, and on wi-fi with acww, at the same time. i can go on my desktop and wi-fi, but not the laptop. this really sucks :(

anyway, i guess i'll catch myself an ocean sunfish! love to everyone!

p.s. miraculously, NO ONE has moved out in the past few months!

I've decided to trade in my Animal Crossing game for a different one. I have grown tired of the game and I haven't really had the time to play it in over a year. So, as a final hurrah, I'm leaving my town open for the duration of the day so you can come and take the stuff I have set out at Town Hall. I encourage you to take some of the unique patterns I have; they were made by people in these communities years ago. Fruit and furniture and bells; all up for grabs.

If you do get something, respond back here, so I know some folks made use of my offer. Then I can get rid of my game without worrying about it!

Edit: Be Amazed at the sea of crap that overflows from the Town Hall all the way down to my house. I forgot I had so much stuff.

Edit the 2nd: I've left my town open for two whole days, keeping my DS plugged into the wall and my wireless refreshed respectively. If nobody's grabbed anything yet, it's likely no one will. I just wanted to thank the community for being here and being such awesome people. Keep on trucking, and maybe see you in a future game!

I was just about to post here and invite you guys over, but I'm having a problem. I went to Copper to get my friend code (because this is the first time I've connected to the wifi in AC:WW) and he said "no compatible acces points in range", so I went to my wifi settings and searched for an acess point and  none showed up. I'm sitting right beside my wireless router! The manual set up is confusing me.

Funny thing is my DSi can go on the little browser, no problem! So why is it not finding the access point in the setting or in game but is OK in the browser?

EDIT: figured out the manual set up, trying that now

come by and plop your character anywhere for the duration. gates will remain open until wi-fi crashes or until sunday, whichever comes first.

sorry i haven't been very active the past week. everything started up again this week and it's been so hard getting used to having school-work-play rehearsals every day after being off for an entire month! i still play every day and water my flowers and make sure no one is trying to escape, but i've been too tired at the end of the day to venture out of the well, or to open my gates.

i think i'll have an all-night sleepover party tonight. i'll post about that later, but be forewarned - the well is a bit of a wreck. i'm in the process of taking down my christmas decorations and the only free items i have at the moment are a ton of gyroids that i would be grateful to have taken off my hands.

Bentley is going to be open for most of New Year's Day!  I'm open now!   It's currently still January 31, 2010, in Bentley, since I wasn't able to do the New Year's Countdown last night in ACWW so I'm gonna do it tonight. ;)

i am not going out tonight because i would rather stay home, where it is quiet and not full of drunk people.

i'll be opening the gates around 9 EST and keeping them open until i wake up tomorrow. there's snowman furniture behind the museum, bells behind Dizzy's house, free flowers on the left side of the town (the ones that are surrounded by Christmas tiles), gyroids for the taking behind Olivia's and Nook's, and party poppers/roman candles/fireworks scattered along the shores. also, Pyramid Head would appreciate some offerings in his shrine. (thanks guys for all the offerings you've given him so far!)

Papecraft "are models constructed mainly from sheets of heavy paper, paperboard, or card stock as a hobby." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papercraft) You print out the template - usually on to cardstock - cut the pieces out, score the fold lines, fold, and glue down the flaps. In the end, you are left with a 3D, paper statue of whatever it is that you had the original template for.

So wouldn't it be nice if there were an Animal Crossing template? How about one of Jingle.

Hey folks, gates to Vanua are going to be open roughly 2 mins after I post this :)

 There's only 5 townies (Filbert moved in today!) and Nook n' Go. Redd is also visiting today, password is "on my side". Turnips are being bought for 77 Bells.

Couple town rules:

DO;

- run with the B button. I know there's not a lot of flowers around but it's a good habit to get into to avoid picking them up. Also, please try to not run over the few flowers that I do have.

- visit/chat/woo whichever townies you desire. Write them funny/scary letters but keep it PG13. I don't mind reading more hardcore stuff but I don't want them to go around the community with explicit letters as I know some people play with younger gamers.

- fish/bug hunt to your hearts content

- write on my BB! Even if I talk to you - it's nice to get a message and it's the way I'm likely to keep track of who's an active player and who isn't in the future

- buy anything you want from Nooks or Redd's but if Redd has a painting please leave that for me.

- change the town tune and patterns at Ables if you wish. If it's an original design then please don't save over it so I get a chance to see them all :D

DON'T;

- dig up ANYTHING that's buried. 

- cut down trees or cause general mayhem

- be a general douche. Work off the "if I wouldn't want it done to me I won't do it" policy. You wouldn't want some idiot running amok in your town and Copper and Booker have a lot of stuff to do ;)

- touch the flowers behind the town hall

But otherwise, come and have fun! I'm also looking for a shovel in case anyone has one spare (I'm happy to pay equivalent Bells for it). Thank you Sadako! I may keep the gates open all night, I may go semi-AFDS occasionally.

is there anything i should know when i'm visiting your towns? you all know the kinds of things i like - the creepier the better - but i don't know much about what kind of things you guys like. what kind of letters do you like your townies to recieve? do you want creepy letters and BB posts, or something more pleasant? is there a theme you'd like me to follow when writing to your townies? please let me know.

don't worry, though, Bronny and RaeAnne, i saw your posts and i have it memorized to keep things PG in your towns. i promise i won't do/say/post anything R rated when i'm visiting you guys.

another question i have: when you guys open, how long do you open for? i love having people spend extended periods of time in my town and i love when people visit and go AFDS for hours. what are your policies on that? is it okay if i come to your town and idle for a few hours? or would you rather i do my business and take off?

if there's anything else i need to know about your towns that i don't know, please tell me.
